
The HKS R TYPE intercooler is engineered for circuit use, making it ideal for both stock replacement turbines and large wastegate turbines. It enhances turbine performance across all engine RPMs, whether driving on a straight track or accelerating out of corners. This intercooler is approximately 25% lighter than conventional models (based on in-house comparisons).
- Inner Fin (Triangular Straight Type): Designed to minimize air flow pressure loss.
- Outer Fin (Triangular Louver Type): Similar to the S TYPE, it features a triangular louver design for the outer fin.
Intercooler Core
The core area has been increased by 22.4%, significantly enhancing cooling performance. The OEM core lacks sufficient cooling capacity when boosting up, but with the increased core capacity, it is compatible with everything from boosting up to turbo upgrades. The core is also designed to be installed with OEM piping.
Piping Kit
By enlarging the pipe diameter and smoothing the inner design compared to the OEM, we can increase power output. The OEM hose tends to expand under high boost, but the aluminum pipe completely eliminates pressure loss due to hose expansion. The aluminum pipe features a mirror buff finish, and both the cast pipe and core display the HKS logo, adding a stylish touch.
Important Notes
- To install the intercooler assembly, it is necessary to modify the air guide inside the bumper and relocate the outside air temperature sensor. No modification of the reinforcement is required.
- To install the piping, it is necessary to shave the bracket on the vehicle body.
- For the full kit, both points 1 and 2 must be met.
