Formed from years of motorsport and component design experience, the Process West Verti-Cooler is a slant-mount intercooler system for the Subaru WRX 08-16 and Forester 08-12. Designed with rapid air-charge cooling and flow-path efficiency as the key objectives, it is a major step forward in Subaru intercooler design, taking turbocharger cooling to a new level for better performance and improved engine durability.

The problem with original intercooling.

Computer modelling and real-world testing of the factory Subaru top-mount intercooler shows that while it cools effectively in short bursts, the lack of an exit air path from the bottom of the core creates a virtual traffic jam of hot air in the engine bay, which rapidly reduces efficiency in demanding conditions. Making the stock-mount intercooler larger improves how quickly heat-soak occurs but does little to address the real problem of getting heated air away from the intercooler body.

The Verti-Cooler advantage.

The Verti-Cooler combines a large, free-flowing Process West core (400mm flow length, 205mm stack height, 120mm thick) with a design that mounts the intercooler at a 15 degree, near-vertical angle. Packaged with a hood-duct design that feeds external airflow straight onto the fins, it creates an efficient air-exit path that flows heated air back down through the engine bay and out the underside of the car through the transmission tunnel, for a shallow, cool, low-restriction exit. Compare that to the near 90 degree turn the air must make with the stock intercooler and the advantage is clear. The Verti-Cooler also has the largest volume of any aftermarket intercooler for the WRX 08-16 and Forester 08-12, at 400mm flow length x 205mm stack height x 120mm thick.

Everything you need to fit the Verti-Cooler comes in a complete package: specially formed silicone hoses, high-quality constant-tension hose clamps, the Verti-Cooler core, and the matching under-hood air duct and splitter. An optional silicone hose is available for direct fitment to non-stock turbochargers. At the time of order you can specify a satin-black or silver finish.
