Description
Radium Rear Clamshell Shim Kit — Lotus Exige (All Years)
This kit was designed to replace the factory Lotus Exige steel body shim spacers with a permanently secured, lightweight aluminium alternative. The factory shims are taped to the rear subframe and easily lose adhesiveness and alignment with the four trunk-mounted through holes — they can slip, misalign, and get lost during clamshell removal. This kit eliminates those problems entirely.
Radium shims are laser-cut from 5052 aluminium plate with lightweight features, then media blasted and anodized black for corrosion protection. The result is a 73% weight saving over stock. Each shim is permanently secured using a stainless steel countersink screw and locking pinch nut — no more tape, no more lost shims.
Note: Shim thickness is consistent but may vary slightly from the factory shim stack. No noticeable difference in body fitment will be observed.
Comprehensive installation instructions are included, covering rear clamshell removal, shim installation, and tips to reduce future removal time to 10 minutes or less. Initial removal will take approximately 1.5-2 hours.
